Sailing, Swimming, & Exploring!
Due to COVID, we stopped running our week-long day camps in 2020. The last two summers, we have instead offered “Marine Society Outings” — five-hour day sails for groups of 16 children aged 8-14. We depart at 9:00, sail for a couple hours, anchor at Misery Island to swim off the boat, eat lunch, and sail back to Salem, arriving at 2:00. The outing includes hands-on sailing as well as learning the parts of the vessel, basic knots, and the basics of navigation. Outings will take place on the following Tuesdays in 2022:
June 28 — FULL
The tuition is $40 per outing for Salem children (thanks to the generosity of the Salem Marine Society) and $80 for all others.
Cancellation & Refund Policy
The Outings are not “rain or shine”. If the forecast is inclement, we will either reschedule to the following day (Wednesday) or cancel and issue refunds. Weather cancellations are the ONLY situation where refunds are available (see below).
Last winter we opened registration in early February, and most of the Outings quickly sold out. However, some parents signed up their children for multiple Outings, locking up slots in these sold-out programs, only to request refunds for undesired dates months later, after other interested families had been turned away. This was not always intentional, but it certainly was disruptive. As a result, we are waiting until March 15 before we will accept registrations, when parents might have a better handle on their family’s summer plans, and…
*** We no longer offer refunds ***
You may sign your child up for as many slots as you wish, but tuition is non-refundable.
